Mission: METEOR provides talented high school students the opportunity to participate in an experiential research project at Children’s National Hospital and Children’s National Research Institute. This six week summer experience is designed to encourage students to take the required steps toward careers in STEM and biomedical research fields.
Candidates: •Rising junior in a DCPS/DCPCS or PGCPS school •Satisfy the criteria for URM disadvantaged background or disabled person as defined by the NIH PAR-15-184(https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/par-15-184.html) •Be a US citizen or permanent resident •Must prepare a 1 to 2 page personal statement •Submit two recommendation letters (one from a science teacher and another from counselor)• Be able to work alongside a mentor and mentorship team to participate and/or develop their own research project which address conditions/diseases that adversely affect infants and children.
